Day Eight: The Holy Spirit Illuminates our minds

“…when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth;” John 14:13

Of His many ministries to the Christian, the Holy Spirit’s ministry to believers is also to enlighten our minds to perceive the truths of the Word of God. This is how God enables us to grasp and experience and apply God’s truth to our Christian life, to know the true fear and thereby begin a journey toward wisdom.

The natural man cannot understand the things of God as they are spiritually discerned. He sees in limited dimensions. However, the Holy Spirit, who knows the deep things of God reveals them to us. (1 Cor 2:10, 14).
The Holy Spirit’s work is to make known to us the will of God as revealed in the Word of God. On this very journey of revelation there is also renewal of our minds as we learn to have the mind of Christ and obey God’s commandments.

As we bend to His will, and give up our own control over ourselves, the Holy Spirit will work deeply and fully in our spirit, craving and sculpting, that we may develop a sensitivity to the things of God and know His voice, listening He speaks through His Word, through circumstances and through people. It is then that we will begin to recognize and respond to the Spirit’s promptings and checks in our spirit, learning as we go to discern between His prompts to do something and His checks to refrain from a particular course of action.

Come, bow down and surrender, promising your allegiance to the Holy Spirit’s tutelage. Here, you will find no disappointment. Here we will learn how to apply God’s Word to our lives, growing in Christ that He may be formed in us.

Prayer

May God the Father bless us; may Christ take care of us; the Holy Ghost enlighten us all the days of our life. The Lord be our defender and keeper of body and soul, both now and forever, to the ages of ages.
